Mumbai (Bombay) is the commercial capital of India. It is the most affluent and Industrialized city of India and is in many ways the 'gateway to India'. It's India in an Oyster.

Mumbai is the main gateway to India with more flights than Delhi, Calcutta or Chennai. It also has the busiest network of domestic flights. The International airport is about 4kms from the domestic airport. Two railway systems operate out of Mumbai - Central and Western Railway. Long distance buses depart from the transport terminal opposite the Mumbai central railway station. There are buses to points in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.

Bhavnagar has a beautiful old bazaar with wooden balconies, clusters of small shops and lots of local colour. It is a sprawling city with distinct old and new sections.

Bhavnagar is connected to Mumbai by air. State transport buses connect Bhavnagar to Ahmedabad and other centers in the region such as Diu. Bhavnagar is 299 kms by train from Ahmedabad.

 

 

It is northern Maharashtra's largest city and is the home of the famous Ajanta and Ellora caves. These caves are noted for their sculptures and paintings. the Ellora cabes are the venue for the Ellora Dance and Music festival.

Aurangabad is connected by air to Mumbai, Jaipur, Udaipur adn Delhi. There are buses from Aurangabad to Nasik, Pune, Indore and Mumbai. There are two daily trains to/from Mumbai.

 

Goa, a former Portuguese colony, is one of India's gems. It offers much more than a cocktail of sun, sand and the beaches. Ancient Churches, lively markets and colourful affairs lend to it's care free and indulgent character.

Most of Indias' domestic airlines operate services here. Flights between Goa and Mumbai are numerous. There are also daily flights from Delhi. There are also flights from Bangalore, Kochi, Pune, Chennai and Trivandrum.
