The most famous landmark is the Rock Temple, a spectacular monument perched on a rock top to tower over the city. From it's summit you get a fabulous view of the town plus it's other famous landmark, Sri Ranganathamswamy temple.

Trichy has an airport with flights to madras via Mysore. Buses go to Bangalore, Coimbatore, Madras, Maduri and Tirupathi. Trichy is on the main Madras to Madurai line and so there are direct trains to Madras.

Tanjore was the ancient capital of the Chola empire. Tanjore's main attraction is the Brahadishwara Temple. It is the crowning glory of the Chola empire architecture.

Tanjore is 323 kms from madras and 177 kms from Pondicheery and is well connected to these two big cities by bus. Train journey to Madras is overnight and takes 9 hours.

Periyar is a tiger wild life sanctuary. Periyar is a pleasant escape from the daily rigour, a nice place to cruise on the lake, and an opportunity to see some wild life and take a walk in the jungle. the park encompasses a 26 sq.km artificial lake.

This famous hill station located at the tri junction of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka and was the summer head quarters of the British Government at Chennai. The reminders of the British period are stone churches, private schools, various Maharaja's palaces and the terraced botanical gardens.

Like Darjeeling and Matheran, Ooty has a miniature railway connecting it to the lowlands. the closes airport is at Coimbatore which is  90 kms from Ooty. Ooty is 300 kms from Bangalore and 160 kms from Mysore. The frequency of buses to these cities is very high.

Hyderabad is an important center of Islamic culture and south India's counterpart to the Mughal splendours of the North. it is famous as the former seat of the fabulously wealthy nizams of Hyderabad. Hyderabad retains much of it's 19th centure atmosphere. Standing in the heart of the old walled city is Charminar built in 1591 to commemorate the end of plague in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad is very well connected to all parts of the country by air with daily flights to Mumbai, Delhi, Calcutta, Madras, Bhubaneshwar, Bangalore and Nagpur. Thyere are comfortable buses to Mumbai, Bangalore, Madras and Nagpur. Secunderabad  is the main railway station with trains to all parts of the country.
